WARR ACRES — Putnam City lost twice to Southmoore, 16-1 and 13-1, Wednesday (Sept. 10) in a 6A-4 doubleheader.
SOUTHMOORE 16, PUTNAM CITY 1
The Sabercats took advantage of 14 walks in the win.
In the second inning, freshman D’Najah Jarrell scored the only run for the Pirates. After a one-out single, junior Freshman Alexandra Hatlelid doubled to left field to score Jarrell.
SOUTHMOORE 13, PUTNAM CITY 1
Southmoore scored 11 runs in the third inning for the run-rule win.
Original scored a run in the first inning. Senior Dahlia Hickerson led off the game with a single to right field. Junior Madi Gossman later grounded out to move Hickerson to third base. Fellow junior Tess Goodner singled to score Hickerson.
Walks hurts the Pirates with eight free passes to the Sabercats. Southmoore also stole 16 bases.
