OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City West routed John Marshall twice Monday (Aug. 18) for their first two wins of the season.

GAME 1: PUTNAM CITY WEST 15, JOHN MARSHALL 6

After falling behind, 5-0, in the first inning, the Patriots poured on 11 runs in the bottom half of the inning for a rout.

West batters walked 12 times and three batters were hit by a pitch.

Once on the bases, the Patriots ran wild with 22 stolen bases. Dakariha Montgomery swiped six bags to lead the team. Analicia Ramirez added four steals.

Tanya Johnson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Ramirez, Kaydence Lopez, and Aaliyah Lewis each had a hit.

Lewis’ hit was a two-run inside-the-park home run in the third inning. Lopez had a double.

Lopez got the win after coming in to pitch in relief. She struck out five batters in 2 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and one run.

GAME 2: PUTNAM CITY WEST 10, JOHN MARSHALL 3

The Patriots took advantage of 11 walks in the big win.

West’s lone hit was an inside-the-park home run by Thomas to lead off the bottom of the first inning.

The Patriots stole 18 bases, led by Lopez’s five steals. Ramirez and Johnson each stole four bases.

Lopez earned the win allowing a hit and three runs in an inning. All three runs were unearned due to three West errors. She struck out three batters.

Thomas pitched the other inning, allowing a hit and striking out one batter.

UP NEXT

West hosts Bartlesville Thursday (Aug. 21) at 4:30 p.m. for a 6A-2 doubleheader.
