Putnam City West’s new boys cross country coach Mario Pando said this season will be a “building year.”

“We have high hopes for the future,” Pando said in a preseason questionnaire. “At Putnam City West, we have great athletes and we believe winning is just a matter of time.”

West finished 14th in last year’s regional competition at Owasso.

Senior Shiloh Nixon returns as well as junior Edward Cifuentes.

Fellow junior Diego Garcia also returns. Garcia had a seventh place finish at the Heritage Hall Cross Country Meet last season.

Freshmen Demian Campos and Angel Alonzo are two newcomers to the team.
