Bethany boys basketball coach Brett Cannon has resigned from that post, he told West Metro Sports Tuesday (May 13).
Cannon is headed to Piedmont where he will be an assistant principal at Piedmont Intermediate. That move was approved by the Piedmont school board Monday and his resignation was accepted by the Bethany school board Tuesday night.
“My time at Bethany was special! They took a chance on me after going 8-16 in my first year at Berryhill and I’m forever grateful for that. That community is so supportive of the athletic programs, it was a blessing to be a part of,” Cannon said via text. “We’ve built something really amazing at Bethany. We’ve won a lot of games but have really seen our players grow and mature off the court into men. We have built that thing to win now and in the future. It will be a powerhouse for awhile!”
Cannon was 57-29 over his three-year stint with the Bronchos. His teams exited in the area playoffs the first two seasons before earning a 4A state tournament berth in 2025.
Cannon’s assistant, Josh Holliday, has been tapped to take over the program.

Holliday’s appointment was also approved by the Bethany school board Tuesday night.
Holliday was the freshman coach at Broken Arrow before coming to Bethany in 2022. He has coached Solid Rock in Edmond and the OKC Storm. Holliday was also a graduate assistant at NCAA Division II Arkansas Tech.
“I’m just ready to get to work! Coach Cannon was an amazing mentor and I’m forever grateful to be a part of his coaching tree and everything he has done for me not just as a coworker but a friend as well,” Holliday said via text. “I am going to do my best to continue the culture that he and others before planted here at Bethany. I’m super grateful to the Bethany community as well for making me feel at home since the moment I stepped foot on campus and entrusting me to lead their boys basketball program. I’m excited for what the future holds for the Bronchos!
