NOBLE — Western Heights advanced to day two of the Class 5A Regional 1 with a 4-3 win over Altus and an 18-2 loss to host Noble Thursday (May 8).

WESTERN HEIGHTS 4, ALTUS 3

The Jets got just enough offense and survived 11 Altus hits in the win.

Tied 3-3, Western Heights loaded the bases after three walks in the seventh inning, Junior Akin Aguillard scored on a passed ball to walk off with the win.

“Jacob (Bohnstedt) threw great, scattering hits really well,” Western Heights coach Stephen Smitherman said via text. “(The) offense was able to squeeze, runs across the plate and take advantage of mistakes from the defense.”

Bohnstedt, a senior, pitched six 1/3 innings. He allowed 10 hits, walked one batter and struck out eight.

Junior Keziah Howell went 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Fellow Aguillard added a 1-for-2 game with a double and two stolen bases.

Senior Caden Wiebusch followed with a 1-for-3 performance with a stolen base.

The Jets took advantage of 11 walks in the game.
