SHAWNEE — Shawnee used a four-run sixth inning to beat Western Heights, 9-7, Monday (April 28) in a 5A non-district game.

The outburst came after the Jets (15-13) took a 6-5 lead in the fifth inning after junior Akin Aguillard scored on a single by freshman Heyward Martin and a Shawnee error.

Aguillard and freshman J.J. Bradley each went 3-for-4 on the day. Each scored twice and Aguilard drove in two runs.

Junior Keziah Howell, senior Caden Wiebusch, Martin and junior Connor Logsdon each had a hit as Western Heights collected 10 hits in the loss.

The Wolves (9-22) took advantage of three Jet errors in the sixth inning rally. Western Heights committed eight errors for the game.

Wiebusch took the loss after allowing six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Wiebusch allowed eight runs but only three were earned. He walked four batters and struck out six.

UP NEXT

Western Heights is scheduled to play Capitol Hill Tuesday (April 29) at 4 p.m.

The Red Wolves (9-20) dropped a doubleheader to Yukon, 10-0 and 10-0, Monday.
