OKLAHOMA CITY — Western Heights outscored John Marshall, 35-2, in a 5A-1 doubleheader sweep Monday (April 21).

The Jets (14-11, 5-9) got big pitching performances from senior Caden Wiebusch and Jacob Bohnstedt.

“Caden and Jacob both pitched really well in both games,” Western Heights coach Stephen Smitherman said via text.

The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, taking advantage of a Western Heights error.

“I felt that we could’ve done better in the first inning of the first game. We came out flat and not ready to play,” Smitherman said.

Despite the sluggish start, Western Heights took a 6-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning after walking six times and being hit by pitch four times in the inning.

The Jets followed with 13 runs in the second inning on five walks, three hit batsmen, four singles and a Bear error.

Wiebusch allowed three hits in four innings in the shortened game. He walked none and struck out six batters.

Junior Connor Logsdon went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two runs batted in.
