OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City West senior Nathan Vann pitched a five-inning no-hitter in the Patriots’ 9-0 run-rule win of Minco Friday (April 18) on Senior Day.

Vann struck out 14 batters and walked just two in the win.

“Nathan pitched lights out, commanding his fastball and spinning his breaking ball for strikes when he needed to,” Putnam City West coach Grason Wright said via text.

The Patriots (6-16) were held scoreless until the fourth inning when they exploded for three doubles and four singles en route to a 9-0 lead.

Sophomore Jarin Hoff was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Senior Marshall Byars also went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Van was 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Senior Luis Enriquez went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.

Senior Cadence Smith and freshman Malachi Ferguson each added a hit.

The Patriots didn’t strike out in the contest.

“It is always great for the seniors on senior night to go out with a win in front of their family and friends. All of the seniors played a major role in the win. It’s always fun to pitch in front of a packed house,” Wright said.

“I’m proud of how the boys bounced back after one big inning Thursday against a great team in Bethany killed our momentum in the game.”
