BETHANY — Tied at 1-1 in double overtime against Community Christian Tuesday (April 15), Bethany coach Sean Williams had confidence in junior Eli Marquez to convert a penalty kick to give the Bronchos a win.
“He has been taking PKs in varsity games and big games since he was a freshman. He is consistent and calm under pressure and I had all the belief that he would convert it,” Williams said via text.
Marquez sent the ball into the net left of the CCS keeper, who dove right, to give Bethany a 2-1 win in a 4A-1 match.
Freshman Joseph Hernandez scored the Bronchos’ first goal with an assist from Marquez.
