Bethany seniors Kayten Donley and Keziah Lofton were named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Large West girls basketball team recently.
It is the first time in school history Bethany has had more than one athlete named All-State in the same season. The Large West team has 10 seniors from classes 6A, 5A and 4A, making it a challenging achievement.
“Kayten and Keziah are super deserving of this honor!” Bethany coach Eric Sailer said via text. “They have been a huge part of our success at Bethany!!!
“Early on, they formed a great bond on the floor, pushing each other to compete at a high level and make others better around them. They also are great friends off the court. It has been one of my joys to coach them and watch them grow as players and people.”
Donley, an Oral Roberts signee, averaged 17.4 points a contest and grabbed 10.4 rebounds a game. Donley also averaged 3.8 assists and 3.1 steals a contest. She shot nearly 50 percent from the floor and 77.1 percent from the free throw line this past season.
Donley scored 1,530 points points in her four-year career at Bethany. She also had 873 rebounds, 324 assists, 297 steals and 125 blocks.
Lofton, an Oklahoma signee, had a tougher road. She missed most of the season after recovering from surgery and a leg injury last summer. She returned for five games, starting in the Class 4A regional playoffs.
She averaged 14.6 points a game during that short stint. Lofton averaged 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists a contest. She shot 41 percent from the field.
For her career, Lofton scored 1,612 points, grabbed 607 rebounds. She also had 281 assists, 260 steals and 63 blocked shots.
The duo were an integral part of the Lady Bronchos’ back-to-back 4A state titles in ‘22-’23 and ’23-’24. This past season, Bethany fell to Douglass, 58-47, in the first round of the state tournament.
