OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City West fell to the OKC Mets, 3-2 in eight innings, Friday (April 11) at the Northwest Optimist Tournament at West.

The OKC Mets (11-11) scored single runs in the third and fourth inning, taking advantage of two hit batters and an error.

The Patriots (4-13) answered in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sophomore Alex Jimenez and senior Nathan Vann hit back-to-back doubles. Freshman Malachi Ferguson drove in Vann with a single to tie the game at 2-2.

It stayed that way until the eighth inning. A triple and a double back-to-back gave the Mets a 3-2 lead.

West got two runners on base in the bottom half of the inning, but couldn’t push a run across for the loss.

Jimenez and Vann each went 2-for-4. Ferguson and Ezequiel Hernandez each had a hit in the contest.

Hoff pitched all eight innings and took the loss. He allowed eight hits, two earned runs and walked one batter. Hoff struck out eight Mets.

West faces Putnam City Saturday (April 12) at 10 a.m. at Putnam City.
