NOBLE — Bethany swept the competition at Noble’s Rose Rock Classic, culminating with a 1-0 win over 5A Shawnee Saturday (March 29).
Broncho junior Seth Greiner clinched the win for Bethany with a penalty kick save.
Bethany coach Sean Williams said he was pleased how his team responded In a tournament setting, dealing with situations and “taking away the strengths of their opponents” which he said are good teams.
“Playing as a unit defensively, not allowing a goal, finishing our opportunities, managing some really physical teams and rising to those challenges taught us a lot about our character,” Williams said via text.
“Everyone has a role, and everyone played really good and handled the pressure. We played to get a trophy and the boys were focused on our tactical set up and believed they could win, and I think they are beginning to really believe that they can reach our goals.”
After an 0-3 start, the Bronchos have won five straight matches. In the Rose Rock Classic, Bethany beat 5A Altus, 3-0 Thursday and host Noble, 1-0 Friday.
The Bronchos had four players named to the All-Tournament team, junior Eli Marquez, sophomore Westyn Hoefar, junior Denton Jaggers and junior Griffin Tarrant.
