BETHANY — Bethany scored two shutouts (including a three-inning perfect game) and scored 30 runs Thursday (March 27) on the first day of the Bryson Cael Memorial Festival.

The Bronchos scored 19 runs in the second inning in the rout.
Bethany sent 24 batters to the plate in the inning. Del City issued five walks and hit three batters. Bethany had nine singles and two doubles during the inning. The Eagles (0-11) are committed two of their six errors for the game in that inning.
Junior Karter Thomas, seniors Levi Moore and Andrew Taber had two hits each.Taber had a double and drove in five runs. Thomas also had two RBIs.
On the mound, senior Layton Reither threw a three-inning perfect game. He only allowed contact by only one batter (a fly out). Otherwise, he struck out eight batters in the shortened game.

The Bronchos saved their scoring for the final inning, breaking a 2-0 game open with six runs in the fifth inning.
Junior Judson Gilliland went 2-for-4 with a home run. Seniors Joe Berry and Brock Cross each had two hits. Cross’ hit was a double.
Bethany took advantage of seven walks from the Saints.
Sophomore Brody McLaren allowed one hit over five innings. He walked one batter and struck out five.

Bethany meets Putnam City (2-12) for the second time this season in a 6:30 p.m. matchup Friday (March 28) at Pirate Field for the festival finale.
On Thursday, the Pirates fell to Santa Fe South, 8-3, and beat Del City, 11-1.
Bethany beat Putnam City, 12-4, in the season opener for both schools on March 1.
