GULF SHORES, Ala. — Muskogee scored nine runs in the seventh inning to beat Putnam City North, 13-6, Wednesday (March 19) in the Gulf Coast Classic II.

The Roughers (5-6) had six hits and four walks (three of which were intentional) coupled with an error in the final inning.

The Panthers (1-10) tied the game, 3-3 in the fourth inning. Senior Jessie Aaron was hit by a pitch. Senior Geoffry Schmid and junior Xavier Sarkey walked back-to-back with two outs.

Aaron and Schmid scored on an error by the catcher. Senior Aaron Wall, who ran for Sarkey, scored on a single by junior Robert Marcy.

Muskogee scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to retake the lead, 4-3.

In the bottom half of the inning, North took a 6-3 lead, highlighted by triples from junior Quincy Robinson and Schmid.

Schmid went 2-for-2 on the day. Senior Rocco Carattini, Robinson and Marcy each had hits.

Robinson took the loss on the mound. He allowed four hits and six runs in an inning of work.

North starter Sarkey got a no-decision after pitching five innings. He allowed five hits and four runs (only one of which was earned). Sarkey walked one batter and struck out nine.

The Panthers committed four errors in the loss.

UP NEXT

North (1-10, 0-2) travels to Edmond Memorial (5-0, 2-0) Monday (March 24) at 5 p.m. for a 6A-1 contest.

The Bulldogs will play four games starting Thursday (March 20) and through the weekend in the Edmond Spring Break Festival.
