FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Putnam City fell twice after late-inning rallies Tuesday (March 18) in the Gulf Coast Classic II.
TUSHKA 8, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 5
A four-run rally in the seventh inning by Tushka, a 2A school in southeastern Oklahoma, beat North.
The Panthers scored three runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to take a 5-4 lead. Senior Rocco Carattini singled in two runs. Junior Quincy Robinson popped up in the infield and senior Geoffry Schmid scored on the sacrifice fly.
In the seventh inning, Panther senior Aaron Wall hit a batter and walked two batters (one of which was intentional) to load the bases. Tushka senior Zack Brame cleared the bases with a double to center field. Fellow senior Tristan Gibson tripled the final run in to make it 8-5.
Carattini went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in. Robinson was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Schmid was also 1-for-2 with a run batted in. North sophomore Treague Ferguson and Lopez each got a hit.
The Panther collected seven hits and struck out 10 times.
Wall took the complete-game loss. He allowed six hits and eight runs (only four were earned). Wall walked three batters and struck out four.

TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN 7, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 6
Trinity Presbyterian, a 4A school in Alabama, walked off with a win over North due to three passed balls by sophomore Devin Orton in the seventh inning.
Trinity senior Fleming Hall walked with one out and then came home to score, breaking the 6-6 tie.
North scored three runs in the fifth to take a 6-5 lead. A Schmid single scored Robinson and Orton reached on an infield error which scored two more runs.
The Panthers had seven hits and struck out eight times.
Robinson went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in. Schmid was 2-for-3. He scored a run, drove in two more and walked once.
Carattini and junior Austin Guerrero each had a hit.

The Roughers will play Norman North at 2 p.m. before playing the Panthers. Muskogee beat Robertsdale (Ala.) Tuesday, 2-1.
