OKMULGEE — Bethany fell behind early to fourth-ranked Locust Grove in a 54-36 loss Friday (March 7) in the Class 4A Area 3 Championship at the Mvskoke Dome.

The eighth-ranked Lady Bronchos have one final opportunity for a state berth Saturday (March 8) in a rematch with Glenpool.

Bethany (20-6) trailed 22-7 after one quarter and were never able to dig out of the hole.

The Lady Bronchos turned the ball over 18 times (nine of which were Locust Grove steals). Bethany 25 percent from the field and 17 percent from the 3-point line. The Lady Bronchos struggled from the free throw line, hitting 3-of-9 shots.

Seniors Kayten Donley and Keziah Lofton each scored 10 points. Donley also had eight rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.

Lofton logged a double-double with 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Sophomore Camryn Regier added seven points and 13 rebounds.

Loust Grove sophomore Olivia Stokes scored a game-high 20 points. The sophomore hit 4-of-7 from the 3-point line. She also collected three steals. Of her point total, 13 points came in the first half as Locust Grove (25-1) built a big lead.

Junior Hannah Bond added 12 points, including 10 in the first half. The junior hit 6-of-12 from the field and had nine rebounds.

UP NEXT

The Lady Bronchos meet Glenpool in the consolation final Saturday with a state berth on the line. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.

The two teams last met Saturday (March 1) in the regional final at Crossings Christian. The Lady Bronchos won, 62-52.

Since then, the Lady Warriors earned wins over Mulrow, 72-27, and 13th-ranked Broken Bow, 58-56.
