YUKON – Bethany junior Judson Gilliland and junior Karter Thomas each had three hits and the Bronchos pulled away from Yukon with a 3-run seventh inning Thursday (March 6) in a 6-2 win.

Gilliland had singles in the first and seventh inning. He also had a double in the fifth inning.

The catcher also scored Bethany’s first run in the first inning. Senior Joe Berry grounded into a fielder’s choice at second base, scoring Gilliland. The Millers answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning.

In the second inning, senior Layton Reither doubled to right field. He moved to third base on a single to center field from fellow senior Brock Cross. Gilliland lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Reither and make it 2-1.

In the fifth inning, Gilliland led off the inning with a double. He moved to third base on a groundout by senior Charlie Tolle. Thomas drove Gilliland with an infield single to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Millers (1-3) pulled within a run in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Drake Pace.

The score stayed 3-2 until the seven inning when Cross walked. Gilliland and Tolle followed with singles to load the bases.

Cross scored on a wild pitch. Thomas scored Gilliland on a sacrifice fly to right field. Senior Andrew Taber reached on an outfield error to score Tolle to make it 6-2.

The Bronchos (3-1) had 10 hits in the win.

Bethany used a different pitcher for each inning. The Bethany pitching staff walked one batter and struck out six. The group allowed five hits over the seven innings.

Bethany travels to Kingfisher (0-1) Monday (March 10) for a 4A-4 contest. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
