OKLAHOMA CITY – Western Heights senior Caden Wiebusch no-hit Classen S.A.S. Thursday (March 6) in a 17-0 rout in four innings.
Wiesbusch walked two batters and struck out eight Comets in the win.
“He commanded the strike zone for the most part all afternoon,” Western Heights coach Stephen Smitherman said via text. “When he did struggle and walked back to back guys, I was proud of how he pitched his way out.”
The two walks in the first inning sandwiched a ground ball to shortstop Akin Aguillard who recorded the out at second base.
From that point, Wiebusch struck out eight of the next 12 batters for the no-hitter.
Wiebusch allowed only two other baserunners. He hit a batter in the fourth inning and the next batter reached on a fielder’s choice when the runner was retired at second base.
The Jets (1-1) took advantage of Classen mistakes to take an early lead. Freshman J.J. Bradley led off the game by getting hit by a pitch. Bradley came around to score on a passed ball to make it 1-0.
In the third inning, an error, three walks, a sacrifice fly from Bradley and a single by Wiebusch extended the lead to 4-0.
“We struggled to get started but when we got going, we kept it going,” Smitherman said.
In the third inning, the floodgates opened. Jet batters walked six times and two were hit by pitches. Wiebusch had an RBI-single and senior Jacob Bohnstedt tripled to left field before scoring on an error. The Heights took a 13-0 lead.
The Jets added four more runs in the fourth on four walks, a Wiebusch double and a single by junior Keziah Howell.
Wiebusch was 3-for-3 with two runs scored in a four runs batted in. Howell, Bohnstedt and senior Amir Avelar each added hits. Bohnstedt drove in three runs and Howell drove in two in the win.
For the game, the Comets walked 16 batters.

Western Heights hosts Noble (1-0) to complete a 5A-1 series Friday (March 7) at 5 p.m.
The Bears haven’t played since their 10-0 shutout of the Jets Monday.
