

WARR ACRES – Putnam City West run ruled sister school and rival Putnam City, 13-3, in a four-inning game Tuesday (March 4).
The Patriots (1-1) took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first on three singles and three walks. The inning was capped off by junior Ezequiel Hernandez stealing home.
The Pirates (0-2) answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning as West starter Nathan Vann hit three batters. PC added two singles and a Lukas Poindexter steal of home to pull within a run.
West added three runs in the next three innings to pull away for the win.
In the second inning, West batters walked three times and collected a couple of singles.
The Patriots’ third inning was highlighted by sophomore Aaron De Loera’s double.
The fourth inning was a two-out rally. West sophomore Alex Jimenez kept the inning alive by reaching first base on a dropped third strike. Vann walked and De Loera singled to make it 13-3.
Jimenez went 3-for-4, scored two runs and stole two bases. De Loera went 2-for-3, scoring a run and driving in three runs. Hernandez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and four stolen bases.
Sophomore first baseman Jarin Hoff went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Vann walked three times and scored twice.
The Patriots took advantage of six Putnam City errors.
On the mound, Vann worked around the first inning struggles, allowing three hits, walking two batters and striking out eight.
Pirate sophomore Bryson Vanover, juniors Brandon Bennett and Henry Thein each had a hit in the loss.
PC starter Henry Plata took the loss. The senior allowed five hits in two innings. He walked six batters and struck out three. Vanover pitched the final two innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs. He walked three and struck out four.

PATRIOTS WIN FIRST PC SCHOOLS GAME
West took the first game between the three Putnam City schools in baseball.
Both Putnam City West and Putnam City North are in District 6A-1. Those two teams will play a two-game series April 7-8.
Putnam City is in District 6A-2. The Pirates won’t play Putnam City North in a non-district game this season.

West hosts Ponca City Saturday (March 8) at 12 p.m.
The Wildcats (0-1) will play Putnam City Thursday and Guthrie (Friday) before playing West.
The Wildcats lost to Putnam City North last Saturday (March 1), 2-0.
