OKLAHOMA CITY — Putnam City West built a first half lead and survived a third quarter rally from Muskogee in a 56-41 win Friday (Feb. 14) in a 6A-3 matchup.

“Great bounce back from Tuesday,” Putnam City West coach Brian Booker said via text. “We were shaky in the third quarter got away from what got us the lead in the second half. We calmed down in the fourth and got a big district win.”

The Patriots built a 25-14 lead but the Roughers cut into the lead in the third quarter and trailed 35-28.

West extended the lead in the fourth quarter for the win.

Senior Jordan Kariuki scored a game-high 18 points, including nine points in the fourth quarter. Junior Quavion Wheeler added 12 points, nine of which came in the second quarter.

Junior DJ Carter scored eight points, with two 3-pointers in the first half.
