BETHANY— Bethany overcame a third-quarter rally by 3A second-ranked Anadarko en route to a 49-36 win Friday (Feb. 7) in a Western Athletic Conference contest.
“Gritty win from our guys. Extremely proud of them and happy for them to get a big win like that,” Bethany coach Brett Cannon said via text. “We had high level of execution defensively. We have really dialed into having a defensive identity. We had guys flying around and taking charges, being in the right spot all night.”
Senior Aiden Todd scored 11 points to lead 4A 12th-ranked Bethany. Fellow senior Lukas Wooldridge added nine points (all in the first half).
Senior Garrett Johnson also scored nine points.
Junior Denton Jaggers scored eight points (six in the second half) but Cannon praised his defense.
“He guarded his tail off. Blocked a few shots,” Cannon said. “Got a bunch of rebounds and even scored some big buckets late.
“His spark off the bench for us lately has been crucial. He shows up and is the same guy every single day. He always has the most energy in practice. His commitment to getting better is showing up more and more each day.”
Cannon was happy the ball movement from his team.
“When we were patient, we got really good shots. Almost every point was assisted on. That’s a sign of good ball movement,” Cannon said.
