NEWCASTLE — Bethany senior Wyatt Geissler reached the 1,000-point club Thursday (Jan. 23) in the Bronchos’ 85-44 win over 6A Lawton Eisenhower in the opening round of the Sweet Pea Invitational.
Geissler scored 15 points in the win to reach the milestone.
“1,000 points is a tough thing to do,” Bethany coach Brett Cannon said via text. “(Wyatt is) only the seventh guy to get it done in Bethany history. He works so hard, he really deserves it.
“He dives on the floor and gets up and scores a lay up for his 1,000th point. That’s the epitome of who he is. Just a gritty, hardworking, selfless guy.”
Geissler also owns school records for career receiving yards and career touchdowns in his stint the Bethany football team.
Bethany (10-5) rebounded from a loss at home to Newcastle on Tuesday in the win over Lawton Eisenhower (2-10).
“Glad to see everyone get out there and contribute,” Cannon said.
