WARR ACRES — Putnam City lost its first District 6A-1 game in a 66-59 loss to Deer Creek Tuesday (Jan. 14).
“Hard fought game,” Putnam City coach Brandon Jackson said via text. “We played one of the best teams in the state. We came up short but showed we can compete with the best.”
Sophomore Mar’Quell Robinson paced the Pirates with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. Fellow sophomore Gabe Osborne added 16 points and senior JaColby Williams followed with 13 points.
“Very proud of these young men. Tough day for me as I lost my grandma this morning,” Jackson said. “But, really proud of how we competed on both ends of the floor.”
With the win, Deer Creek (10-2, 5-1) pulled ahead of PC (9-2, 5-1) for the top spot in the district. The two teams will play again Feb. 11 at Deer Creek.
