UPDATE: The Bethany boys will play Glenpool Saturday (Jan. 11) at 11:30 a.m. The Bronchos were put in the losers’ bracket due to a coin flip because their first round game against Fort Gibson was unable to take place.
TULSA — Bethany’s boys basketball team will have to wait at least another day to play in the Lincoln Christian Winter Classic.
The Bronchos were scheduled to play Fort Gibson Thursday (Jan. 9) but a snow storm across Oklahoma kept Fort Gibson from traveling. A game was tentatively scheduled for Friday, but that game was canceled early Friday afternoon.
Bethany coach Brett Cannon told West Metro Sports that the team might play two games on Saturday but its future tournament schedule was uncertain.
The tournament is scheduled to resume Saturday, taking Sunday off and conclude Monday.
“At the end of the day, I can be frustrated that we got here Thursday and have spent two days in a hotel with no game. But at the end of the day, it’s about the safety of the kids,” Cannon said via text. “That’s more important than games.”
Cannon said his team has been able to geto the gym and practice.
“We are just using it as an opportunity to bond and hangout,” Cannon said.
