
WARR ACRES — Putnam City couldn’t overcome Yukon’s strong second quarter and the Lady Pirates’ free throw woes for a 56-45 loss Tuesday (Jan. 7) in a 6A-1 contest.
Original led 20-18 with 6:00 left in the second quarter. From that point, Yukon went on a 11-3 run to build a 29-23 lead at halftime.

Putnam City (3-4, 2-3) trailed the rest of the way but got it back to a 1-point game with 5:43 left in the fourth quarter on a 3-pointer by senior Paishintz Booker. Yukon extended the lead but Kayla Hill hit a trey to make it 44-42 with 2:41 left.
The Lady Millers (7-3, 3-2) outscored PC, 12-3, as the Lady Pirates were forced to foul. Original committed eight fouls during the comeback bid and Hill fouled out with 1:02 left.
For the game, Yukon was 16-of-22 from the free throw line while Putnam City was 9-of-22 from the line.
Hill scored 18 points. Lady Pirate coach Porsche’ Young said the senior didn’t start the game because she had been recovering from a concussion. Fellow senior Destinee Hunt added 12 points.
Booker finished with seven points, scoring five of those points in the second half.

Putnam City will meet Westmoore (3-3) Thursday at 10 a.m.
