BLANCHARD — Bethany jumped out to a double-digit lead early in a 49-32 win over Blanchard in a Western Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday (Jan. 7).

Bethany coach Eric Sailer liked how his team handled Blanchard’s “run-and jump” defense.

“Blanchard tries to put a lot of pressure on you from start to finish,” Sailer said via text. “I thought our girls did a good job of controlling our pace at times.”

The Lady Bronchos (6-2) built a 17-7 lead after a quarter and led 30-14 at halftime.

Senior Kayten Donley scored a game-high 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting. The Oral Roberts signee had eight rebounds, six assists, five blocks and two steals.

Sophomore Camryn Regier added nine points, nine rebounds, five assists, three blocks and a steal.

“Kayten and Cam have a great chemistry going right now,” Sailer said. “The rest of our girls are feeding off of there play.”

As a team, Bethany had 12 assists.

“(That is something) which we should be very proud of!!” Sailer said.

Sophomore Ali Linn had nine points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. Junior Reese Harris followed with seven points and seven rebounds.

Bethany shot 40 percent from the field while holding Blanchard to 23 percent shooting. The Lady Bronchos outrebounded the Lady Lions, 30-17.

UP NEXT

The seventh-ranked Lady Bronchos will play in the Lincoln Christian Winter Classic Thursday through Saturday (Jan. 9-11) in Tulsa.

Bethany will meet 6A Jenks Thursday at 1 p.m. The Lady Trojans (5-4) have lost three straight games, including a 42-28 loss to Sapulpa Tuesday.
