LANCASTER, Texas — Putnam City West lost its games Thursday and Friday (Dec. 26-27) in the Snoop Johnson In Season Showcase at Lancaster High School.

THU. (DEC. 26): STONY POINT (TEXAS) 94, PUTNAM CITY WEST 76

Stony Point, a 6A school in Round Rock, Texas, used big second and third quarter runs for the win.

West fell despite shooting 51 percent for the game. Stony Point outrebounded the Patriots, 51-21.

Damari Coleman scored 19 points, hitting 5-of-11 from the 3-point line. Senior Jordan Kariuki added 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting (2-of-3 from the beyond the arc).

Another junior, DJ Carter, scored 13 points. Freshman Scyon Wilborn followed with 10 points. Wilborn was 3-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-4 from the 3-point line.

FRI. (DEC. 27): CROWLEY (TEXAS) 79, PUTNAM CITY WEST 58

Despite trailing by only two points after the first quarter, Putnam City West fell to Crowley (Texas), a 6A school, after the Eagles had a strong second quarter and fourth quarter.

West trailed 18-16 after a quarter, but Crowley outscored the Patriots 16-8 in the second quarter. West shot 57 percent in the third quarter but still trailed by nine points, 50-41.

PC West again struggled on the boards, being outrebounded 43-31.

Junior DJ Carter scored 18 points and had five rebounds and five assists. Sophomore Damari Gilstrap added 15 points on 5-9 shooting (including 5-of-7 from the 3-point line.).

Senior Jordan Kariuki followed with 14 points and six rebounds. Kariuki hit 7-of-11 from the field.
