

DUNCAN – Putnam City won its first tournament in the last five or six years with a 58-51 win over 3A fourth-ranked Lincoln Christian to capture the Southern Oklahoma Invitational Saturday (Dec. 14).
“Huge for the program to get a tournament championship!” Putnam City coach Brandon Jackson said via text.
The Pirates (6-1) swept a tournament for the first time since 2015 when PC swept the Bixby Tournament.
“We grew a lot in this championship game. We fought through some adversity but really grew as a team,” Jackson said.
Senior Kelton Locke earned tournament MVP honors after scoring 20 against the Bulldogs. Fellow senior JaColby Williams added 18 and was named to the All-Tournament team.
“Kelton and JaColby were big all weekend. Their leadership on the floor was the key to us having a successful weekend,” Jackson said.
Sophomore Gabe Osborne finished with 12 points and was also named to the All-Tournament
“Gabe Osborne had the responsibility of guarding the team’s best player every night and tonight did a very good job making it tough,” Jackson said.
The Pirates held a 43-41 lead after the third quarter and went on a 9-0 run over the first four minutes of the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.

Putnam City (6-1, 2-0) returns to 6A-1 district play by hosting U.S. Grant Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 7:30 p.m.
The Generals (0-6, 0-2) lost all three of their games in the Great Plains Tournament in Lawton over the weekend, falling to Lawton Eisenhower, 78-34, Saturday (Dec. 14).
