
WARR ACRES – Putnam City opened the 2024-2025 season with a 96-25 rout of Southmoore Tuesday (Dec. 3) in a 6A-1 contest.
“I thought our team played well for the first game out of the gate,” Lady Pirate coach Porsche’ Young said via text.
After Southmoore (0-1) scored the first bucket of the game, the Lady Pirates (1-0) went on a 20-0 run and led 27-6 after the opening quarter.
Senior guard Paishintz Booker poured in 26 points with five 3-pointers. Junior guard Promise Wright added 20 points with three treys.
Sophomore I’leeya Combs finished with 17 points. Original had five players score in double-figures in the win.
The Lady Pirates drained 14 shots from behind the 3-point line.
UP NEXT
The Pirates host sister school Putnam City North (3-0) Thursday (Dec. 5). The Panthers routed Piedmont, 84-45, Tuesday.
“We still have a lot to work on and a tough test coming Thursday,” Young said. “This was an opportunity for us to work on our process as we head into the grind of the season.
“It feels good to get the first one, but it’s a long season. We will take time to evaluate each part of our game and put our best foot forward.”
