Bethany’s road to a gold ball will keep them away from home. The Bronchos defeated Weatherford, 28-6, last Friday (Nov. 15).

Now, the bracket takes them to Ada Friday (Nov. 22). Even though Bethany is 9-2 and Ada is 8-3, the Cougars get to host by virtue of being the 4A-4 district champion.

If the Bronchos win, their semifinal game Dec. 6 would be at a neutral site.

Bethany coach Jon Arthur doesn’t think being on the road will hurt the team since the Bronchos played four road games in-a-row after the home opener Aug. 29.

“In our road games throughout the year they’ve been really focused and they’ve traveled well,” Arthur said via phone. “I definitely think we can use that to our advantage down the stretch, having done that.”

BRONCHO STATS FROM WEATHERFORD

Senior Jackie Payne completed 13-of-21 for 182 yards and two scores.

Fellow senior Wyatt Geissler caught seven of those passes for 108 yards and a score. Junior Seth Greiner had two catches for 29 yards and fellow junior Evenson Malaska added two catches for 18 yards.

Senior Garrett Johnson had a 5-yard touchdown catch.

On the ground, junior Judson Gilliland rushed for 107 yards on 22 carries, scoring twice.

The Broncho defense held Weatherford to 133 yards of offense (80 of that came from OU commit CJ Nickson’s 80-yard touchdown pass).

NEXT OPPONENT: Ada

Bethany travels to eighth-ranked Ada (8-3). The Cougars won a 53-50 shootout over Cushing last Friday (Nov. 15).

Ada junior quarterback Brock Boyles threw a school-record 58 pass attempts in the win. Cushing was a sack-heavy team and didn’t bring down Boyles once.

It remains to be seen what seniors Charlie Tolle and Jackson Dull will be able to do in the backfield.

Boyles has thrown for 2,684 yards and 28 touchdowns.

On the ground, junior Caron Richard has rushed for 1,029 yards and 16 scores.

Ada has two receivers just under the 1,000-yard mark in senior Deante Lindsay (987 yards, 11 TDs) and junior Lakievin Richardson (957 yards, 10 scores).
