The top team in Class 6A-II and fall thunderstorms proved to be too much for Putnam City North last Thursday (Nov. 7) in Muskogee’s 36-0 game-shortened win.

Despite only playing two quarters before lightning halted play, the 10-0 Roughers had 266 yards of total offense.

The Panthers (7-3) struggled at times to move the ball. Junior Mason Jones went 4-of-8 for 16 yards and an interception.

Senior Milton Alford was held to 37 yards on five carries.

North had four receivers catch passes but they were for short gains.

Senior Kyran Axtell did boot a 52-yard punt in the loss.

Defensively, sophomore Jonnas Stinson-Powers, senior Dameon Hardmon and junior Bravion Stubbs each five tackles.

Senior Tyrie Caldwell and junior Bishop Moore each had a tackle for loss.

NEXT OPPONENT: Southmoore

The Sabercats (4-6) lost to North in a non-district game Sept. 19. The Panthers got out to a 27-7 lead by halftime.

Southmoore beat rival Westmoore to open the season. They added wins over U.S. Grant and Northwest Classen before scoring an upset over Piedmont Oct. 25.

All but one of their six losses was by double-digits. The exception was a 42-35 loss to Lawton Eisenhower Oct. 4.
