
SHAWNEE – Putnam City North’s bats came alive in a 10-0 shutout run-rule of Shawnee Monday (Oct. 7).
The Panthers smacked nine hits in the contest and blew open the game in the third, scoring seven runs.
In the big inning, North had three doubles, a triple and took advantage of three Shawnee errors.
“Our two pitchers, led Jayda Stevenson went to work,” Putnam City North D’Antae Mitchell said via text. “But, our hitting was a lot better and we scored runs. We gotta keep it rolling.”
Stevenson earned the win, allowing one hit in two innings. The junior struck out five batters.
Senior Aubrey Miller allowed two hits in two innings of relief. She struck out one batter.
Senior Kylee Smith and sophomore Savannah Martinez each went 2-for-3. Martinez had a double, as adid senior Monica Coats, junior Mikala Coats and senior Raya Shawareb.
Freshman Kayleigh Andrews had that third inning triple.
