OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City North’s tuneup for the regional playoffs included just enough offense in a 1-0 win over 5A El Reno Tuesday (Oct. 8).

Leading 1-0 going in the seventh, senior Monica Coats had allowed just one hit and a walk. El Reno loaded the bases with no outs on a double, a single and North’s only error.
Coats got a strikeout. Then, on a 1-0 pitch, the Lady Indians’ Taylor Acosta lined a ball to third baseman Savannah Martinez. The sophomore stepped on third to double off El Reno’s Ryah Hardy to end the game.
“The play by Savannah was awesome for the seniors’ last home game,” Putnam City North coach D’Antae Mitchell said via text. “They played hard and defense was outstanding.”
North scored the game’s lone run in the third inning. Senior Raya Shawareb walked with one out.
Fellow senior Kylee Smith laid down a sacrifice bunt and Shawareb scored on an error for the 1-0 lead.
Monica Coats had the Lady Panthers’ only hit, a one-out single in the first inning,
