MOORE – Putnam City North’s struggles at the plate continued Monday (Sept. 30) in a 4-1 loss to Southmoore in the final 6A-2 matchup for the Lady Panthers.
“We played great defense and pitched well but bottom line we did hit the ball and it cost us the game tonight,” Putnam City North coach D’Antae Mitchell said via text.
North’s lone run came in the first inning. Senior Kylee Smith reached on an infield error. Smith scored on a triple to right field by fellow senior Monica Coats.
The Lady Panthers would get only one more hit, a one-out single from Monica Coats in the fourth inning. The baserunner was wiped out in the next at-bat in a double play.
Southmoore scored two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings for the win.
Monica Coats took the loss, allowing five hits in six innings of work. Coats walked two batters and struck out two.
