OKLAHOMA CITY – A five-run second inning from Deer Creek was too much for Putnam City North to overcome in a 5-2 loss Tuesday (Oct. 1).

Deer Creek had two singles, a double, a sacrifice bunt, two walks and a hit-by-pitch en route to the five run inning.

North answered in the fourth inning. Sophomore Savannah Martinez led off the inning with a single to center field. She stole second base and moved to third on an infield error on a ball hit by senior Aubrey Miller.

Senior Kylee Smith singled Marinez home. Later, Smith came around to score on a fielder’s choice to make it 5-2, Deer Creek.

Senior Angel Franklin scattered five hits in a complete game outing. She walked two batters and struck out five.

“Angel (Franklin)did and awesome good in the circle and defense played good,” Putnam City North coach D’Antae Mitchell said via text. “Our bats just didn’t stay out but we hit hard ground balls at them and Deer Creek played good defense and fielded their position.”

Junior Jayda Stevenson, senior Raya Shawareb, Martinez, Miller, Smith and Orton each had a hit as North outhit Deer Creek in the loss.
