OKLAHOMA CITY – Community Christian racked up 15 hits and took advantage of eight Lady Jet errors in a 14-6 win over Western Heights Thursday (Sept. 26).

The Lady Royals built a 4-0 lead. The Lady Jets got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Yazmine Howell singled in Aracena Martin to make it 4-1.

Community Christian added four runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-1. Western Heights answered in the bottom half of the inning. Senior Ionia Howell hit an inside-the-park home run. Later, Makayla Brown singled in Jasmine Frye to make 8-3.

The Community Christian offense kept coming with two runs in the sixth and four runs in the seventh inning.

Trailing 14-3 in the bottom half of the seventh, the Lady Jets got a one-out double from Yazmine Howell. Abby Spitler followed with a walk. Emelyn Ordonez singled Yazmine Howell home.

After Jalesa Asimba flied out for the second out of the inning, Abbie Bise singled Spitler home. Ionia Howell followed with another single, scoring Ordonez to make it 14-6. The rally and game ended on a groundout by Martin.

Ionia Howell went 2-for-4 and Yazmine Howell went 2-for-3. Bise, Martin, Frye, Brown and Ordonez each had hits in the loss.

Asimba allowed 15 hits. Of the 14 runs she allowed, only five were earned. Asimba struck out two batters.

The Lady Jets (7-13) meet Southeast (17-6) at the Queens of the South Tournament at U.S. Grant Friday (Sept. 27). First pitch is at 11:15 a.m.
