WARR ACRES – Putnam City poured in 19 runs in two innings for a run-rule win over sister school Putnam City West, 19-0, during the Putnam City Festival Friday (Sep. 20).

“Just a good team win,” Putnam City coach Brooklyn Sparkman said via text.

After a seven-run first inning, the Lady Pirates put up double-digits in the second inning with 12 runs.

In the circle, sophomores Tessa Goodner and Maece Bourbonnais had a combined no-hitter in the shortened game. Goodner struck out six batters while Bourbonnais struck out two.

At the plate, Goodner went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Goodner had an inside-the-park home two-run home run in the first inning. Sophomore Francis Meza also went 3-for-3 with two triples and four RBIs.

Bourbonnais added a 2-for-3 day with three runs scored.

Junior Dahlia Hickerson finished 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Alexandra Hatlelid went 2-for-2 as did fellow sophomore Madi Gossman, who had a triple.

Every starter but one had a hit in the blowout.

LADY PIRATES SPLIT AGAINST RIVALS

With the win, Putnam City secured a split against its sister schools, going 1-1. The Lady Pirates fell to Putnam City North, 9-2 on Monday (Sept. 16).

North was slated to play Putnam City West Aug. 12 but was rained out.

With the loss, Putnam City West finishes the regular season with an 0-1 record against its sister schools.
