NEAR SULPHUR – Putnam City North junior Toni Ibarra ran to another victory in the girls 2-mile run at the Sulphur Cross Country Meet held at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

Toni Ibarra finished the race in 14:23. Her sister, freshman Gia Ibarra, finished 14th with a time of 16:33.4.

“Toni has always been a hard worker and just has gotten stronger every year,” Putnam City North coach Tammye Bishop said via email. “She made it to regionals last year and I look forward to her to making it to state. She is just motivated and is willing to put the work in. Great student and athlete.”

The Putnam City North boys team finished third at the event and had six runners place inside the top-25 of the 5K event.

Junior Phoenix Mcclain finished seventh with a time of 20:41.3. Other top-25 placers included Vander Brungardt Davis (20th, 22:44.7), Noah Warfield (21st, 22:45.2), William Garrison (23rd, 22:50.9), Paul Masteller (24th, 23:01.7) and Isreal Garcia Puentes (25th, 23:02.2).

Putnam City North joins another West Metro school, Bethany, in competing in the Edmond Santa Fe Pre-State Meet Saturday (Sept. 21). The event begins at 1:40 p.m.
