NOBLE – Putnam City North split a doubleheader with Norman and Blanchard Friday (Sept. 13) at the Noble Festival.
PUTNAM CITY NORTH 7, NORMAN 6
The Lady Panthers built a four-run lead after two innings but had to hold on to beat Norman.
Senior Monica Coats was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one run batted in. Fellow senior Raya Shawareb added a 1-for-3 day. Sophomore Savannah Martinez finished 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Martinez’s double in the first inning cleared the bases, leading to North’s early lead.
Junior Peyton Edwards collected a base hit as a pinch hitter.
Junior Jayda Stevenson earned the win despite the rocky fifth inning. Stevenson struckout five batters.
BLANCHARD 9, PUTNAM CITY NORTH 0
North was held to a pair of hits in the shutout loss. Senior Angel Franklin singled in the first inning. Edwards added a single in the second.
Monica Coats got the loss, allowing seven hits in three innings. Of her eight runs allowed, only two were earned as North committed six errors.
