OKLAHOMA CITY – Despite outhitting the Sandites and a late-inning push from Putnam City North, Charles Page High School (Sand Springs) beat the Lady Panthers, 3-2, Tuesday (Sept. 10) in a 6A-2 matchup.

A bases-loaded walk in the first inning got the Sandites their first run. In the fourth, Bella Wilson sent a ball over the left field wall for a two-run home run to extend the lead to 3-0.

Sand Springs scored all three runs with two outs.

North got a run back in the sixth. Senior Kylee Smith had a bunt single and advanced to third base on an error. Junior Mikala Coats grounded out, driving in Smith.

North got two runners in the seventh inning. Junior Jayda Stevenson reached on an error. Sophomore Kayla Orton singled to left. After senior Angel Franklin struck out for the second out, Smith singled pinch runner Queenie Henderson home to make it 3-2.

Mikala Coats flied out to end the game.

Monica Coats scattered five hits in a complete game performance. Coats walked six and struck out eight batters.

Smith finished 2-for-3. Mikala Coats, senior Raya Shawareb, Monica Coats and Orton each had hits in the loss.

UP NEXT

The Lady Panthers (4-10) travel to 4A Newcastle (13-8) Thursday (Sept. 12) for a non-district game. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
