OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City West had 10 hits but fell to host Santa Fe South, 8-4, Friday (Aug. 30) in the Santa Fe South tournament.

West took the lead in the first inning. Kaydence Lopez singled and came around to score on a single from Jamariea Conway.

Santa Fe South tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning. West retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Taniya Johnson, who had singled, scored on a single to right field by Rosaura Rojas-Delgado.

Santa Fe South took control with four runs in the third inning on four singles and two walks, building a 5-2 lead.

Anila Conway led off the bottom of the third with a double to left field. Miah Tyler followed with a walk. Both scored on a single by Jazmyne Thomas to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Santa Fe South put the game away with three runs in the fourth for the win.

Lopez went 2-for-3 on the day and Johnson added a 2-for-2 performance. Conway went 1-for-2 with a double.

West (1-9, 0-6) hosts Mustang (7-5, 4-0) Tuesday (Sept. 3) in a 6A-4 matchup. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
