WEATHERFORD – Bethany couldn’t overcome a three-run inning from Weatherford, dropping a 3-2 contest from the Lady Eagles in a 4A-1 matchup Friday (Aug. 30).

Four straight two-hits from Weatherford in the third inning, plated three runs and gave the Lady Eagles all the offense they’d need Outside of that inning, Bethany junior Paige Seachrist allowed only two hits and struck out seven batters in the loss.

Bethany got a run back in the fifth inning. Senior Ireland Riley singled and came around to score on a Weatherford error (one of three in the game).

In the seventh inning, Riley singled and came home on a double to right field by junior Madison Bibbs. An error and a walk followed, moving Bibbs to third but she was stranded there when junior Berkley Johnson struck out to end the game.

Riley finished with a 4-for-4 day and Bibbs added a 3-for-4 performance. Johnson went 2-for-4.

The Lady Bronchos (6-10, 3-2) host Weatherford (9-1, 3-1) Tuesday (Sept. 3) in another district matchup. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
