KINGFISHER – Putnam City dropped a defensive struggle with Anadarko, 3-2, Saturday (Aug. 24) in the final day of the Highway 33 Classic.

The Lady Pirates fell behind 3-0 after three innings, taking advantage of a couple PC errors.

Sophomore Addison Grier tripled to centerfield and came home to score when sophomore Maece Bourbonnais singled to left. Putnam City scored another run in the bottom of the sixth when sophomore Tessa Goodner homered over the left field wall.

Goodner took the loss, allowing four hits, three unearned runs. She walked three and struck out six batters.

Sophomores Madi Gossman, Goodner, Grier, Bourbonnais and Natalie Luevano each had a hit in the loss.

UP NEXT

Putnam City (1-5, 0-1) hosts Deer Creek (5-2, 2-1) in a Class 6A District 3 matchup. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
