KINGFISHER – Putnam City earned its first in of the season, going 1-2 in the first day of the Highway 33 Classic in Kingfisher Friday (Aug. 23).

PUTNAM CITY 11, WATONGA 1

The Lady Pirates used an eight-run third inning to run-rule Watonga. Putnam City got four singles, a double, four walks, a Watonga error and a hit by pitch in the big inning.

Sophomore Alexandra Hatlelid went 2-for-2 with a stolen base. Fellow sophomore Addison Grier also went 2-for-2 with a double and two stolen bases. Dahlia Hickerson, sophomores Madi Gossman, Francis Meza and Samantha Tidmore each had a hit.

Tessa Goodner had a walk and stole three bases (including third base and home) in the win.

Bourbonnais earned the win by pitching 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief, striking out six batters.

OKARCHE 4, PUTNAM CITY 2

Putnam City jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Goodner and Gossman had back-to-back singles with one out. Bourbonnais doubled to score Goodner. Gossman stole home to give Original a 2-0 lead.

Okarche tied the game at 2-2 in the second inning and added single runs in the third and fourth innings for the win.

Gossman finished with a 2-for-2 day with a stolen base.

Goodner struck out five batters in the loss.

KINGFISHER 12, PUTNAM CITY 0

The host Lady Yellowjackets jumped ahead early en route to a run-rule win in three innings.

Gossman, Goodner, Bourbonnais and Grier each had singles in the loss.
