OKLAHOMA CITY – Bethany’s tough trek through the Oklahoma High School Fast Pitch Festival continued Friday (Aug. 23) with two losses.

MUSTANG 8, BETHANY 0

Mustang’s five-run third inning and a tough day at the plate for the Lady Bronchos led to an 8-0 loss for Bethany against the Lady Broncos, a Class 6A state quarterfinalist last season.

Mustang senior Aubree Hall struck out seven Lady Bronchos, allowing three hits.

Senior Ireland Riley, sophomore Jules Barger and sophomore Grey Williamson each had a hit in the loss. Williamson’s hit was a double.

PIEDMONT 12, BETHANY 4

The three-time defending Class 5A state champs rode two big innings for the win. Piedmont scored five runs in the third inning and four in the fifth.

Kensley Folsom led off the fifth win a single. Riley followed with a walk. After an infield fly out, Barger singled. Folsom Riley scored on an outfield error on the play.

Junior Paige Sechrist singled, scoring Barger. Finally, Williamson singled to load the bases. Sechrist scored after junior Alyssa Daniels popped into a double play to center to end the inning. Bethany cut the deficit to 8-4.

Riley went 2-for-2 and Sechrist added a 2-for-3 day.

UP NEXT

Bethany faces Class 5A Guthrie (9-3) at 9 a.m. and Class 6A Southmoore (6-1) at 11 a.m. in the final day of the event.
