OKLAHOMA CITY – Yukon put its game with Putnam City North out of reach with a six-run fourth inning, leading to a 11-1 rout of the Lady Panthers Thursday (Aug. 22) in Class 6A District 2 game.
The Lady Millers collected six hits, all singles, and took advantage of three North errors.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning, North got a run back. Junior Mikala Coats walked. Her sister, senior Monica Coats, followed with an infield single. Fellow senior Aubrey Miller moved the runners over with a sacrifice bunt. Sophomore Savannah Martinez scored Mikala Coats with a sacrifice fly to center field, making 3-1.
Monica Coats and junior Jayda Stevenson each had a single for North’s two hits.
Pitching-wise, Monica Coats took the loss, allowing five hits. Of the 11 runs allowed, five were earned. She walked five batters and struck out two.
