OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) released the 2024-2025 Class 6A and 5A basketball districts Wednesday (Aug. 14).

All three Putnam City schools are in different districts than they were in 2023-2024.

Putnam City moves to Class 6A District 1 from District 3. Edmond Memorial and U.S. Grant also make the move with the Pirates. New district opponents for Putnam City include Deer Creek, Mustang, Norman North, Southmoore and Yukon.

The Pirates finished 9-16 overall last season but have a new coach in Brandon Jackson, replacing Garland Parks. The Lady Pirates finished 10-15 overall.

Putnam City North moves from Class 6A District 1 to District 2. Familiar district opponents for the Panthers include Capitol Hill, Moore and Piedmont. New district opponents include Choctaw, Edmond Santa Fe, Lawton Eisenhower and Norman.

The Panthers went 11-16 overall, falling in the the area tournament. North will have a new coach with D.J. Lemons taking over for Mike Jeffries. The Lady Panthers ended up 21-7 overall, falling in the first round of the state tournament.

Putnam City West moves from Class 6A District 2 to District 3. Only Westmoore makes the move with the Patriots. New district opponents include Bixby, Muskogee, Owasso, Ponca City, Stillwater and Union.

Despite a mid-season coaching change, the Patriots finished 13-14 overall and made the area title game. Interim coach Brian Booker was named the permanent head coach following the season. The Lady Patriots won the second girls state title in school history, finishing 27-1 overall. After Ja’Ron Jefferson left for the Yukon boys job following the season, assistant Kennedi Simien was elevated to the head job.

Western Heights moves from Class 5A District 1 to District 2. Only Altus makes the move with the Jets. New district opponents include Classen S.A.S. at Northeast, Del City, Duncan, John Marshall, Lawton and Midwest City.

The Jets finished 2-22 overall last season. The Lady Jets ended up 1-24 last season but will have a new coach as Charles Hunt takes over for Curtis Finchum.
