WEATHERFORD – Bethany salvaged a win after dropping their first two games of the Weatherford I-40 Classic Friday (Aug. 16).

EDMOND SANTA FE 6, BETHANY 4

The Lady Bronchos couldn’t overcome a five run-second inning in the loss to their Class 6A opponent.

Trailing 1-0, Bethany got on the board in the first inning. Junior Madison Bibbs singled and sophomore Jules Barger lined a triple to left field. Junior Paige Sechrist doubled Barger home with a line drive to center.

Riley’s one-out double in the fourth inning started Bethany’s rally. Sophomore Ella Davis reached on a ground ball error to second, scoring Riley. Bibbs grounded out, scoring Riley to cut the deficit to 6-4.

WEATHERFORD 9, BETHANY 0

The Bethany bats went silent as the host Lady Eagles scored four runs each in the second and fourth inning for the rout.

Riley, Bibbs and sophomore Emma Geissler each collected a hit in the loss.

BETHANY 11, CHISHOLM 1

The Lady Broncho offense came alive with 11 hits and scored nine runs in the third inning to pummel the Lady Longhorns.

Bethany held a 2-1 lead when junior Berkley Johnson and Sechrist singled with one out. Junior Alyssa Daniels reached on an error to load the bases. Sophomore Grey Williamson’s sacrifice fly extended the lead to 3-1, scoring Johnson.

Junior Jayda Davis walked to load the bases again. Geissler and Riley each singled, bringing in three runs.

Bibbs kept the line moving with a walk to load the bases again. Barger followed with a three-run double to center to make it 9-1. After Johnson walked, Barger stole third and home for another run. Sechrist singled, scoring Johnson to make it 11-1.

Both Riley and Sechrist went 3-for-3. Geissler added a 2-for-2 day. Barger went 1-for-3 and drove in three runs.

Davis allowed two hits in four innings in the pitcher’s circle, striking out six batters.

UP NEXT: The Lady Bronchos finish the event Saturday (Aug. 17) against Tecumseh at 11 a.m. and Plainview at 12:30 p.m.
