WARR ACRES – Four individuals from Putnam City North were announced recently as the new inductees into the Putnam City District Athletics Hall-of-Fame.
Todd Fereday, a 1993 graduate, was a football and baseball star with the Panthers. He was a member of the 1991 5A state championship team. In 1992, Fereday was the starting quarterback of a team that was ranked number one in the state for much of the season with a 9-0 start. He was an All-Stater in baseball and graduated with 10 school records. He was a freshman All-American and and All-Big 8 at Kansas State. After college, he signed with the Chicago Cubs, playing one season in the minor leagues.
Chris Haworth, a 2011 graduate, is the most decorated tennis player in district history. He won 6A state titles as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was a 4-time All-City selection and earned All-City Player of the Year honors three times. He finished his career with a 146-5 record in singles play and led the Panthers to the 2009 boys state team championship, the only one in school history. Haworth played collegiately at Oklahoma State and was twice named Academic All-Big 12.
Aaron Ivey, a 2003 graduate, was a two-sport star for the Panthers. Ivey was two-time All-City selection as a wide receiver and was named All-City Player of the Year as a junior in 2001. Known for his speed, he helped lead the Panthers to the Class 6A State Championship game that year. Ivey was an All-State honoree as a senior and played in the Oil Bowl against Texas. On the baseball field, he was a two-time All-City winner and was named All-State as a senior. Ivey helped North to its first state tournament wins. He went on to play baseball at the University of Oklahoma, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 and winning a slew of academic awards including ESPN The Magazine’s National Academic All-American of the Year.
Lance Parker, a 2004 graduate, is the first boys soccer player to be named to the District Hall of Fame. The goalkeeper was an All-State selection as a senior and a two-time All-City honoree. He played at Missouri State was a two-time All-Missouri Valley selection, also earning academic honors twice. Parker played seven seasons in professional soccer and played for two seasons with Major League Soccer’s Chivas USA.
