OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City and Putnam City North each had a player named to the 6A All-Stars West squad announced by the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association.

Pirate senior Avery Stewart was named to the squad. Stewart hit .345, leading Original in hits with 19. Stewart hit one home run and drove in eight runs.

Stewart also pitched in nine games for Putnam City.

“(Avery) was our most consistent player on the mound and at the plate, that’s why he led the team almost all offensive category,” Putnam City coach Camden Dennard said via text. “He’s very deserving of being recognized for 6A All-Star team.”

Putnam City North senior Cayden Swart

North senior Cayden Swart was also named to the team.

Swart hit .393 with a home run and 28 RBIs. Swart also had eight doubles and six triples.

“Cayden Swart is a great player, teammate, and leader. He gives 100 percent every day and leads by example,” North coach Greg Johnson said via text. “We put a lot of responsibility on him and he took the responsibility without question. He is great player and does anything asked of him.

“More importantly he has grown to be a great man off the field.”

Class 6A will meet Class 5A June 2 at 3:30 p.m. in Enid.
